Bolder and Looser Painting Workshop
One-Day, Saturday, April 18, 10am – 2pm, taught by Natasha Karpinskaia
6 spots left
Course Description
Creating a painting that is loose and painterly, yet accurate, is a fun and exciting way to paint. If you feel that you are concentrating too much on small details at the expense of a bolder, more dramatic outcome, this workshop will help you to learn what to paint and more importantly, what to leave out. You will practice using bigger brushes and ample paint. We will take color to new unexpected places by working with simplified values. You will learn how to loosen up and apply your paint in a gestural, painterly manner. This may open the door to an exciting new level of creativity and artistic expression. Please see supply list on the website.

Monotypes with Collage and Chine Collé
Date: April 25-26, 2026
Time: 10am – 2pm
Class size: 6-8, All Levels
Cost*: $275 members, $325 non-members
*Materials included, each participant will receive 10 half-sheets of Arnhem Light and can purchase additional paper from the front desk if needed.
Course Description:
This hands-on workshop explores the creative possibilities of monotype printmaking combined with collage and chine-collé. Chine-collé allows thin papers – rice paper, vintage book pages, tissue, handmade fibers – to become physically bonded to the print surface. The result is a subtle integration of image and material: fragments suspended, embedded, or partially revealed. The workshop will focus on combining gesture and intentional layering, integrating found materials into print surfaces, creating depth through overlapping imagery, and balancing spontaneity with structure.
No prior experience is required; all levels are welcome. The emphasis is on process, experimentation, and developing a personal visual language.
